Breaking Ground at YWAM Tyler, located in Lindale, Texas

New ground was broken at Youth With A Mission, Tyler on Sunday night. This event served to kick off the construction of a greatly needed multi-purpose building that will serve as a meeting hall, classrooms, dining room and kitchen.

Situated west of Lindale, YWAM’s Twin Oaks Ranch is primarily a mission-training center. Through the multiple training programs, hundreds are trained and go out to the nations every year. As ever-growing student and staff numbers pushed the current facility to the limits, the need for a new building became increasingly evident.

Present at the ground-breaking ceremony were YWAM Tyler board members, Dick and Sue Bontke, Judge Tom Ramey, Dr. and Mrs. George Hurst, and Bill and Kimberly Thomas along with several hundred staff and YWAM Tyler leaders. Honorable Judge Tom Ramey opened the ceremony with prayer. “The ground breaking took place at this time because of a surge of enthusiasm in one of our advisory board meetings,” states Dr. Leland Paris. “I am deeply grateful to Chris Lascelles for doing an excellent job chairing the building committee.”

Following the ceremonial ground breaking on Sunday night, construction will begin shortly for the $3,500,000 center. The 25,000 square-foot facility will house a commercial kitchen, dining hall, meeting hall and two classrooms. The classrooms will include state of the art translation booths, as growing numbers of Asians; especially Koreans are attending YWAM Tyler for training.

Youth With A Mission is an international and interdenominational volunteer movement of Christians, from many backgrounds, cultures and Christian traditions. When YWAM began in 1960, the main focus was giving young people opportunities to demonstrate the love of Jesus to the whole world. Today, we still focus on youth, but we have members of almost every age and many of our short-term efforts have grown into long-term endeavors that have impacted lives and nations.
