Four inner-city ministries have been pioneered by people who have been trained and discipled at YWAM Tyler. The main focus of each ministry is, of course, to bring the Good News of Jesus Christ to the lost. However, each ministry has its own unique calling. Listed below are just a few examples of each ministry’s work. Click on the links to get a more comprehensive view. - Chicago
English as a Second Language (ESL) programs are reaching immigrants and refugees in this city of three million people, equipping them with the tools to find employment as well as opening the door for friendship evangelism. - Dallas
Reaching urban youth through Bible clubs, after school homework programs, and summer camps is bringing hope to a despairing generation. - Houston
Providing for the physical needs of Houston's street kids (and their babies) with one hand while offering them the love of God with the other is seeing many lives changed in this city. - New Orleans
Running a Crisis Pregnancy Center that is next door to the largest abortion provider in the state of Louisiana, the annual Mardi Gras outreach, and coordinating teams assisting in the clean up of the city since Hurricane Katrina is making a noticeable difference in "The Big Easy." The YWAM Tyler city ministries in Dallas, Houston, New Orleans, and Chicago are teaming up to host an Urban Discipleship Training School (UDTS) at YWAM Tyler in spring 2010. The UDTS is not only for those who are from the city, but also for those who have a heart for the city and a desire to understand the character of God in an increasingly urban world. The 12-week classroom phase, offering teachings with urban relevance and understanding, is followed by two months of hands-on, focused ministry in a major city.
