Families With Children

FAMILIES WITH CHILDREN

YWAM welcomes families and single parents! We see an ever-increasing number of families being called into the mission field. We currently have hundreds of families working in YWAM as full-time staff and attending training schools around the world. The children, alongside with their parents, are learning how to reach a lost world for Jesus Christ.  For parents coming to our training schools here in Tyler, Texas, the following information should give you a good understanding of the things you need to know regarding the care of your children.

Housing –
In most cases, you children will be with you in your room in the dormitories, especially families with younger children or single parents. Large families or those with older children may have 2 side-by-side rooms to accommodate your housing needs. Our experience shows that children love living in community with other families. There is always a playmate to be found! For more specific housing information, please contact the Admissions Office.

During class time –
Children birth – age 2 are cared for in our on-campus nursery. The nursery costs $1.66/week per child and is not included in your tuition costs.

Children ages 3-5 are taken care of in our pre-school, also on campus. The preschool is from 9:00am – 12:15pm. Regular day care is also offered in the afternoons during parent class times. Children will be with their parents during mealtimes, including the lunch hour.

School age children (K-12)
Children may attend either YWAM Tyler’s Christian Heritage School (CHS) or the Lindale Public Schools.

For each of your school-age children, please bring with you:

  • Immunization records
  • School transcripts
  • Birth certificate
  • Passport (for international students)

 

CHRISTIAN HERITAGE SCHOOL

CHS is located in Tyler, about 17 miles from Twin Oaks Ranch – the main YWAM “campus” (the location of the DTS/SOE/CDTS/ CSOE).
If you choose CHS, you will be responsible for the transportation of your children; however, a bus is available to pick up/drop off children living on the campus for $60/month per family.

If you would like to enroll your children in CHS or need further information, please contact the school several months before your school begins.

LINDALE PUBLIC SCHOOLS

Twin Oaks Ranch is located approximately 6 miles from Lindale and children can catch the bus at our back gate. If you plan to attend Lindale Schools, you will need to bring your child’s past grades/records with you. Please contact Lindale schools for further information.
